Canine Gait Analysis Master Class

Do you find analyzing a dog's gait to be a complex and sometimes frustrating task, leaving you with more questions than answers? That's precisely why we've designed this course!

Join us for this 7-week journey (6 weeks of active learning + 1 week break) where we'll explore the intricate world of canine gait analysis. We'll start by identifying and understanding the different footfall patterns in a dog's gait:

  1. Walk
  2. Amble
  3. Pace
  4. Trot
  5. Canter
  6. Gallop

We'll delve into the mechanics of ipsilateral vs. contralateral gait patterns, exploring the distinctions between pace vs. trot. Plus, we'll unravel the complexities of the Transverse/United gallop vs. the Rotary/Disunited gallop, and understand why one may be favored over the other in various contexts.

Once we've mastered the fundamentals of "normal" canine gait mechanics, we'll turn our focus to identifying common and uncommon gait anomalies. We'll discuss the underlying structural issues and muscle imbalances often associated with these gait irregularities.

In the final leg of our course, we'll apply our newfound knowledge by conducting a gait analysis. You can choose to analyze your dog, a client's dog, or use video footage provided by Anna Lee. We'll also guide you on using Canva to produce a graphic overlay to quantify your analysis.

Say goodbye to puzzling over unusual canine gait anomalies! This course is open to everyone, whether you're a dedicated dog owner or a professional in the field.
